The time is always right to do what is right. What does that mean? It means that it’s never to late to stand up for justice, against what you consider is wrong. We must all stand against injustice and it’s never too late to turn around.

“The time is always right to do what’s right,” King told Oberlin students. He was obviously concerned about the upcoming election. In what was a bloody year in American history, with riots in at least six American cities and the murder of three civil rights worders in Mississippi, King’s words were painfully significant: “It is true that behavior cannot be legislated, and legislation cannot make you love me, but legislation can restrain you from lynching me, and I think that is kind of important.”

Martin Luther King
In November 1967 he made a 24-hour trip to the United Kingdom to receive an honorary degree from Newcastle University, being the first African-American to be so honoured by Newcastle. In a moving impromptu acceptance speech, he said
There are three urgent and indeed great problems that we face not only in the United States of America but all over the world today. That is the problem of racism, the problem of poverty and the problem of war.
